Rome, Italy – Flex4Fact proudly participated in the 19th Conference on Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems (SDEWES), held from September 8 to 12, 2024, in Rome, Italy.
This prestigious event brought together 700 scientists, researchers, and industry experts from across the globe, focusing on sustainable development in the areas of energy, water, and environment systems.
Our project partner from the Technological Institute of Aragón (ITA), represented Flex4Fact by presenting a cutting-edge Digital Twin developed for the rubber co-extrusion process at Standard Profil Group. This innovation aims to provide energy flexibility solutions to the manufacturing industry. Specifically, the Digital Twin calculates real-time energy consumption and CO2 emissions for various production line velocities, enabling more efficient planning. This tool gives production planners the ability to adjust operations based on electricity prices, renewable energy availability, and production needs—leading to significant savings in both energy and costs.
The SDEWES Conference itself focused on advancing sustainable methods, policies, and technologies aimed at decoupling economic growth from natural resource usage. It covered critical areas like the future of renewable energy (especially solar power), climate change mitigation strategies, and the implementation of circular economies.
The participation of Flex4Fact in this global platform underscores our commitment to promoting sustainable, energy-efficient manufacturing processes. With innovations like the Digital Twin, we are contributing to a future where industries can optimize energy use while reducing their environmental footprint.
